ANTALYA - Spaniard Joan Espinasa turned out to be the new European three-cushion champion at the small table (2m40) in Antalya. He beat Markus Dömer (Germany) 40-29 in 22 innings in the battle for European gold. Both players had competed in the European championship one cushion a few days earlier.
Espinasa and Dömer denied the Turkish public a local final with a win by the Spaniard against young Seymen Ozbas 40-38 in 23 and a success by the German against Mübin Isli 40-30 in 22. The losers of the quarter-finals were Tommy Ebeling, beaten by Espinasa, Grégory Le Deventec, beaten by Ozbas, Dogukan Corbaci, beaten by his compatriot Isli and Abdullah Kaya, beaten by Dömer.
