ISTANBUL -The Turkish player Emrullah Basegmez has won another big tournament with 136 participants in the Platinum Billard club in Istanbul Maltepe. The tall player defeated Birol Uymaz in the final 40-30 in 28 innings. The semi-final between Basegmez and Can Capak had a thrilling finish: the two players were in balance until the end, where Basegmez had the best finish 40-39 in 25 innings.
The tournament was organized by Temel Kaptan Bayramoglu, the first prize was 1.200 euros, the total prize money 5000 euros. The next Turkish ranking tournament is next week (18-22 May) and will be organized in Erzincan City at 1.000 kilometers from Istanbul.
Emrullah Basegmez (31, from Karadenis Ergeli) came to the final by victories in the sixteenth final against Savas Buut (40-30 in 21, run 13), 8th final vs Semsettin Azimli (40-36 in 33), quarter final Ilbay Dagdelen (40-30 in 28) and Can Capak in the semis. Basegmez won another big tournament last year in Manisa and was close to victory six months ago when he was beaten in the final by Tayfun Tasdemir in only 13 innings.
Among the participants in the Platinum tournament were Adnan Yüksel, Murat Tüzül, Ahmet Alp, Yilmaz Özcan, Hakan Incekara, Tolgahan Kiraz, Mehmet Yavas and Gokhan Salman. Lütfi Cenet was eliminated in the round with 32. Adnan Yüksel in the sixteenth finals by Tuncay Arslan after 40-40 in the regular match and 2-1 in the penalty shootout. Murat Tüzül lost to Ilbay Dagdelen, Tolgahan Kiraz against Can Capak.
Capak recorded against Kiraz the best match of the tournament: 40-14 in 13 innings (3.076). Yilmaz Özcan made the highest run: 16.
