Eddy Merckx won the tournament in Sint Truiden in penalty runs

SINT TRUIDEN - The roles were reversed again: Frédéric Caudron had defeated his eternal rival Eddy Merckx in the play-offs of the Dutch championship two days ago. This afternoon (Saturday) Eddy Merckx won the final in the BTS tournament in Sint Truiden.

His opponent: Frédéric Caudron.

The final battle needed to point the winner from the spots in four penalty runs. Merckx and Caudron closed the regular match off at 40-40 in 27 innings. Three penalty kicks in a row ended in a 2-2 score. In the fourth, Caudron missed the break shot and Merckx scored the winning point.

Eddy Merckx was the very best in the semi-finals, where he defeated Ronnie Daniels 40-17 in fifteen innings (2.666/1.133).

Frédéric Caudron reached the final by beating Roland Forthomme 40-36 in 30 innings.

In the final round Eddy Merckx played 2.000 overall average.
