ROSMALEN/DOETINCHEM - On the ranking after two Grand Prix tournaments in the Netherlands, Dick Jaspers is comfortable in the lead after his two victories. The number one in the world ranking won in Capelle as well as in Rosmalen in finals against Jeffrey Jorissen (Capelle) and Jean Paul de Bruijn (Rosmalen). The third Grand Prix will be later this year in Doetinchem in December. Then the ranking will be drawn up and the best sixteen players will qualify for the Jumbo Masters from January 11-15 2022 in Berlicum.
A close fight is coming up for those sixteen places, especially starting from the tenth place, where the totals over two Grand Prix tournaments are not so far to each other. For a victory in a Grand Prix, 160 points are awarded, the number two gets 108 points, the numbers three and four are rewarded with 76 points.
Dick Jaspers leads the ranking with 320 points ahead of Jeffrey Jorissen with 140, Dave Christiani and Sam van Etten with 128 and Jean Paul de Bruijn who closes the top five with 108 points, awarded for his second place in the Grand Prix of Rosmalen.
These players almost certainly entitle to participate in the 2022 Masters. Raimond Burgman, Martien van der Spoel, Therese Klompenhouwer, Raymund Swertz and Kay de Zwart are part of the top ten, where Jean van Erp falls just outside due to his early defeat in Rosmalen. It was the first time in ten years that the favorite from Brabant did not survive the group stage in a Grand Prix.
After two GP's, Dick Jaspers also leads the ranking of best averages with 1,898, ahead of Jean Paul de Bruijn (who only played Rosmalen) with 1,380, Jean van Erp with 1,339, Jeffrey Jorissen with 1,332 and Dave Christiani with 1,313. Jaspers finished 'Rosmalen' Saturday night with a 2,043 average.
What are the chances for the final Grand Prix in Doetinchem regarding the players fighting for the sixteen places at the Masters?
Jean van Erp and Roland Uijtdewillegen are in places 11 and 12 with 72 points each. Then follow by Harrie van de Ven, Huub Wilkowski, Barry van Beers, Henk Overmars (the revelation of the GP in Rosmalen) with 64 points, closing the row of the provisional sixteen places.
What follows is a row of players who take off in the GP in Doetinchem with a mission. Nick Zuijkerbuijk (60 points) has to rise one place to qualify, Volkan Cetin, Jack van Peer follow with 52 points, René Dericks and Joey de Kok with 44, followed by a row with 40 points: Jack Wijnen, Wilco van Wijk, Sander Jonen, Albert Kooistra and Frans van Schaik. The Master of 2021, the Brabant player Ludo Kools, is in provisional 28th place with 32 points. He will have to finish at least in the last eight in Doetinchem and earn 52 points to have a small chance of defending his Masters title.
As for the continuous national ranking, Dick Jaspers is also in the lead: with 888 points after the Grand Prix in Rosmalen, ahead of Raimond Burgman with 556, Jeffrey Jorissen with 552, Dave Christiani with 452 and Jean van Erp with 412.
