DEN HAAG - The leaders in the Dutch Kozoom league three cushion, the Eekhoorn team, travelled to The Hague this Sunday for a pre-played match in the 12th round. The leaders returned after a half misstep, because Joey de Kok and Therese Klompenhouwer were outstanding winners in the Hague team. They defeated Frans van Kuyk and Kurt Ceulemans, allowing Team Eekhoorn to take just one point back to the campsite: 4-4.
Joey de Kok faced the routine Frans van Kuyk, whom he beat 40-17 in 20 innings, partly due to a run of ten. Therese Klompenhouwer prevailed in her winter form with Kurt Ceulemans. The ladies' topplayer beat the strong Belgian 40-30 in 29. The Hague team thus booked just a precious match point, Team Eekhoorn ran one point away from SIS Schoonmaak, but has played a match more.
Peter Ceulemans and Jerry Hermans took the wins against Kay de Zwart and Herman van Daalen. Peter Ceulemans' victory against Kay de Zwart was never in danger: 40-22 in 26. Jerry Hermans also had no problems against Herman van Daalen, whom he beat 40-27 in 26 innings.
