Dong Koong Kang and three European guns

SEOUL - The final round in the Korean tournament for the LG U + Cup, with a main prize of 40.000 euros, will be played by three European guns and one Korean. Dong Koong Kang, who was taken to the hospital the night before, due to severe abdominal pain, returned to the table and qualified unbeaten for the main tournament. Dick Jaspers was the best group winner of the four players who advance, followed by Dong Koong Kang, Torbjörn Blomdahl and Frédéric Caudron.

In the semi-finals, tomorrow, Thursday at 11.00 am (Korean time), Jaspers and Caudron face each other and at 13.00 Blomdahl and Kang play the other semi final. The final is at 16.30.

Frédéric Caudron finished off the preliminaries with a world class match against Sung-Won Choi (35-8 in eight innings) and raised his average to 2.042 after a lost match on the first day. Semih Sayginer showed up with the highest run so far (15). The Turk, who lost to Dick Jaspers and Hyung Kon Kim on the second day, ended up last in his group. So did Quoc Nguyen Nguyen, who finished without points in his group.

Dick Jaspers was superior in his group: on the second day, the Dutchman won the fabulous match against Semih Sayginer and in his last match, in which he had needed at least a draw, he bested Jung Han Heo (35-26 in 17).
