Dick Jaspers played a superior match against Marco Zanetti

MAGDEBURG – The German bundesliga is led by Bergisch Gladbacher and BC Munich after ten and eleven rounds, but in the top four of the championship everything is still possible. The number three, Magdeburg, played a draw against BC Munich on Saturday, with two glorious victories for the Magdeburg team. Dick Jaspers outclassed Marco Zanetti 40-11 in twelve innings, Dion Nelin defeated Dani Sánchez 40-34 in 20 innings.

The score was matching after four matches, because Johann Schirmbrand took the win against Markus Schönhoff (40-26 in 27) and Christos Christodoulidis got the better of Christian Zöllner 40-26 in 27.

Dick Jaspers’ win was illustrative for his current form. He was dominating the match against Zanetti after he also showed better than Torbjörn Blomdahl two days before in France. Dion Nelin, the bus driver in his country, remains a phenomen who can threaten all the top players, as he now showed against Dani Sánchez, the number two in the world rankings.

Bergisch Gladbacher defeated Krefeld 6-2, mostly thanks to Blomdahl who was too strong for Thorsten Frings 40-33 in 25 and Polychronopoulos who bested De Jaeger 40-36 in 27. Martin Horn is still struggling with a form crisis and could not beat Dirk Weeremans this time. The Belgian reached the finish one carom ahead: 40-39 in 35.

The number four in the rankings, BC Elversberg, triumphed 5-3 against Sterkrade. Michael Nilsson played the best match: 40 in 20 innings. BCC Witten forced Ravensburger further to the bottom of the ranking with its 6-2 win. Eddy Leppens took victory vs Uymaz 40-36 in 24, Savas Bulut outsprinted Capak 40-22 in 23.

Bottroper won the away match against GT Buer 8-0, including Christian Rudolph’ victories over Stefan Galla (40-38 in 29) and Anno de Kleine’s win over Markus Galla (40-26 in 30).

Today, Sunday, Bergisch plays at home against Sterkrade, BC Magdeburg meets Ravensburger and BC Munich playes against BCC Witten.
