LLINARS DEL VALLÉS - The new Spanish ranking in three-cushion is topped by David Zapata after the Grand Prix Llinars del Vallés. The young Spanish player is one point ahead of Jose Maria Mas, third on the ranking is David Martinez. Ricardo Garcia took the spotlight at the GP of Llinars this week defeating David Martinez in th3e final. Dani Sánchez was eliminated in the eighth finals by Martinez. The tournaments counting for the national ranking are the Spanish championship (won by Dani Sánchez), the Grand Prix Javier, Murcia (Jose Maria Mas), the Trofeo de Madrid (David Martinez) and the GP of Llinars (Ricardo Garcia).
Ten years ago already, Ricardo Garcia won his last Spanish tournament in Valladolid. The Catalan veteran recorded another success finally at the Grand Prix Llinars. Thereby he rose on the Spanish table to eleventh place. Dani Sánchez, who missed many points, because he didn't show up at the tournament in San Javier, Murcia, is the number fourteen on the ranking, 130 points behind the leader David Zapata.
The Grand Prix Llinars winner defeated Jose Maria Mas in the eighth finals 40-27 in 34 innings. Then Garcia triumphed against Javier Palazón 40-14 in 28. In the semi-finals Garcia stood out Xavier Yeste 40-30 in 33 and at the end he found top gear against David Martinez 40-35 in 32.
