Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Merckx after their wins against FC Porto

ISTANBUL - The final at the European Cup for clubs in Istanbul has turned out into a battle between Dallinga/AEJ and Andernos. The Dutch/Belgian star team won the second semi-final against FC Porto 4-0. Two matches were decisive to advance, the other matches were stopped on a score that the FC Porto team couldn't catch up Dallinga anymore.

Frédéric Caudron defeated in the bump of the two frontmen Torbjörn Blomdahl 40-34 in 23 innings, Eddy Merckx outplayed Joao Ferreira, who launched himself only in the equalizer with a run of 8 (40-26 in 18).

The gap of twenty caroms was enough to interrupt the matches between Dick Jaspers and Dani Sánchez (30-27 in 25) and Jean Paul de Bruijn against Rui Costa (36-27 in 28).
Dick Jaspers said in front of the Kozoom camera's that he will try to win his third European Cup later in the afternoon against Andernos (16.00). The Dutchman won earlier in his career with Teletronica in 1991 and 1992. ,,I also lost three finals'', he added.

Frédéric Caudron achieved his greatest successes in the Coupe d'Europe with Agipi and previously with Crystal Kelly.

The matches in the final:

Frédéric Caudron-Filippos Kasidokostas
Dick Jaspers-Roland Forthomme
Eddy Merckx-Jérôme Barbeillon
Jean-Paul de Bruijn-Francis Connesson.
