LOCHEM - The match started with 8 and ended with 5, 7 and 9. Dutch premier league leader Babbelz saw its head man Frédéric Caudron shine against Jeffrey Jorissen this Sunday in a 40-15 match in 11 innings. That was the best match in four rounds in the Kozoom league so far and helped Babbelz to a 6-2 win over Bousema. The leaders are 2 points ahead of a chasing group of four, led by Cues&Darts and further with SIS/Vervoort and Team Eekhoorn.
Apart from Caudron, notable matches in the fourth round came from Nick Polychronopoulos (40 in 15), Paul Bruijstens and Gökhan Salman (40 in 19). Three of six matches in this round ended in 4-4, with only Babbelz, Cues&Darts and Dallinga winning 6-2.
Cues&Darts' victory came after some curious matches. Jef Philipoom beat Anno de Kleine 40-38 and Huub Wilkowski won against Dan Breur 40-39, making only Therese Klompenhouwer a comfortable winner 40-26 in 31 against Peter van Lieshout. Glenn Hofman was able to threaten Frenchman Jérémy Bury after being well behind, but eventually lost 40-37 in 28.
For leader Babbelz, besides Caudron, also Davy van Havere triumphed in the Belgian clash with Johan Loncelle (40-37 in 32) and Jack Wijnen was the better of Frans van Schaik 40-23 in 34. The Turkish encounter was won by Gökhan Salman, who beat Savas Bulut 40-31 in 19.
SIS/Vervoort, Team Eekhoorn and Zundert, three of Babbelz's four closest rivals, all played a draw in a home match. Team Eekhoorn did so against J&F Auto's, one of the numbers last in the rankings. Nick Polychronopoulos was excellent against Murat Gökmen 40-31 in 15, Peter Ceulemans beat Kay de Zwart 40-17 in 28. For J&F Auto's, wanting to move quickly away from the last ranks, Paul Bruijstens and Herman van Daalen were successful. Bruijstens beat Frans van Kuyk 40-28 in 19, Herman van Daalen played an exciting match against Jose Maria Mas (40-22 in 30).
Zundert had a great leading player in Sergei Jimenez, the conqueror of Dave Christiani 40-17 in 20. Sam van Etten won against Barry van Beers (40-36 in 26), but Gerwin Valentijn and Henk Blauwblomme scored for RCN Nieuwegein in 28 and 39 innings.
SIS/Vervoort lost the maximum win because Jean van Erp couldn’t make it against Turgay Orak by barely 1 carom difference (40-39 in 29). The match was high-level the same as Raimond Burgman and Raymund Swertz who won against Brants and Persyn in 26 innings.
Dallinga joined the middle ground thanks to a 6-2 win against De Biljartacademie, which remained in last place. Steven van Acker took the key victory by beating Roland Forthomme 40-35 in 33 innings. Berry Dallinga beat Limburg substitute Wilco Meusen 40-26 in 33.
