NEW YORK - The two seeded players, Tayfun Tasdemir and Sameh Sidhom, will stream into the Carom Cafe International Open from today (New York time) after three days of preliminary rounds featuring 70 players. The 32 players for that second round are divided into four groups of eight players, who meet man-to-man in the familiar Round Robin schedule. Pedro Piedrabuena was the top group winner in the first leg with the maximum 12 match points and 1.562 on average.
Sameh Sidhom is placed in Group A (8 players) of the following schedule among others with Luis Aveiga, Harry Peña, Nikolaus Kogelbauer and Michael Kang. Tayfun Tasdemir leads Group B with Huberney Cataño and Ricky Carranco, among others. Group C brings Roland Forthomme into the arena along with Raymon Groot, his former team mate, and Hugo Patino. And in Group D, players include Pedro Piedrabuena, Alexander Salazar and Carlos Mario Villegas.
The first matches start today, Thursday, at 10am New York time including Tasdemir-Delatorre, Forthomme-Amado and Groot-Pineda. Sidhom will play his first match at noon against Choi, Piedrabuena against Galindo, Salazar against Vitzthum, Kogelbauer against Rahmet and Aveiga against Pena.
