ROSMALEN - The 16 players for the knockouts in the Grand Prix in Rosmalen are preparing for the final stage of the second GP tournament in the Netherlands. The first winner was Dave Christiani in a final against Jeffrey Jorissen. Dick Jaspers is missing in De Hazelaar as he plays in the final in the French Team Championship this weekend. Jeffrey Jorissen was the top winner in the first round of the main tournament. Jean van Erp, Harrie van de Ven, Volkan Cetin and Joey de Kok are players who missed places in the knock-outs.
Dave Christiani, the first winner, will play Raimond Burgman this Saturday, Jeffrey Jorissen playes against Jack Wijnen, Glenn Hofman against Menno de Vries and Jean Paul de Bruijn against Frits Broeders.
Jean Paul de Bruijn and Jerry Hermans were the top winners on the first day of the main tournament, both with 1.538 on average. Jeffrey Jorissen surpassed that score with six match points and 1.643. In five of the eight groups, the winner achieved the maximum six match points: Jeffrey Jorissen, Jean Paul de Bruijn, Frans van Schaik, Kay de Zwart and Raimond Burgman.
Jerry Hermans played his best match in Group A against Menno de Vries: 40-15 in 17 innings with a highest run of 14. Frits Broeders won the battle for second place in Pool B against Paul Bruijstens with 40-39 in 49 innings. In Pool C, Barry van Beers stayed ahead of Adrie Demming and Michael Vink in match points and in Pool D, Frans van Schaik won his three matches, including against Dave Christiani.
In Pool E, Kay de Zwart twice just had the best final sprint in his games against Sam van Etten with 40-38 in 25 and against Charles Mekes with 40-38 in 45 innings. Erwin Kivits and Huub Wilkowski stayed ahead of Joey de Kok and Roland Uijtdewillegen in Pool F with 4 match points.
