TURNHOUT - Biljart Express' victory this week in the Belgian team competition was impressive and good for the comfortable leading position. The Turnhout team beat De Leug 2 by an 8-0 score and with a team-average of 1.584. Frans van Kuyk was the best man playing 2.666, Eddy Merckx the strong leading player with 2.222. The other wins came from Dave Christiani (1.538, run 10) and Martin Spoormans (0.952). Mister 100 stayed in second place with a 6-2 win over Billiard Promotion. In that match, there was a standout score for Peter Ceulemans, the leader who mastered Jean Paul de Bruijn without a chance 40-12 in 15 innings (also 2.666 on average). ''I could have even finished 40-6,'' Ceulemans said after the match. In his 7-run he missed the two last points. Kurt Ceulemans was another outstanding winner in that match against Kay de Zwart (40-28 in 24). While Mister 100 is again in the title fight, Promotion Team is in a worrying last place with only 1 match point out of 6 matches.
The Belgian league faces one more match from Herstalien, which plays its home match on Friday, against De Witte Molen. Roland Forthomme's team can climb to second place if they win. Driebanden club De Leug lost that position by an unexpected loss against T'S Place 5-3.
Jeffrey Jorissen and Davy van Havere lost in that match by wide margins to Peter De Backer and Huub Wilkowski in 27 and 29 innings. Therese Klompenhouwer was the only winner for De Leug facing Patrick Kesteloot: 40-30 in 29. Mik Durwael and Marc van der Spiegel played a draw in 40 innings.
BC Op de Meir did good work by winning the home match against Kortrijkse 5-3. Jef Philipoom showed his good form in that match with a win over Ronny Brants: 40-22 in 20 innings. He was the fourth player in this round of play with a 2 for the average. Barry van Beers played a draw against Martin Ravestyn in 41 innings. Eddy Leppens won against Frédéric Beghin 40-29 in 23.
BC De Ploeg joined the last teams in the middle part thanks to a 6-2 win over Brugge.
