The best three players on average in the Dutch team competition, the Kozoom league, at the start of the winter break are Spaniard Ruben Legazpi, Dutchman Glenn Hofman and Belgian Eddy Merckx. SIS Schoonmaak is the leader in the standings after 10 rounds of play, Cues&Darts the best team in average with 1.449 ahead of Team Eekhoorn with 1.413.
This weekend, due to Christmas, on Saturday 23 December (starting 1pm), the last round of this year's competition will be played. Ten of 12 teams will be in action that day, one match was played ahead a few weeks ago. The matches are live on Kozoom this Saturday.
Time to take stock of the individual scores at the end of the year. From the Dutch players in the premier league, Glenn Hofman (Cues&Darts) was the best scoring with 1.905 on average over eight matches. From the foreign players, Ruben Legazpi had the best average with 1.989 out of 5 ahead of Eddy Merckx with 1.872 out of 5. The Dutchmen's top five further consists of Dave Christiani, Jeffrey Jorissen, Frans van Kuyk and Jean van Erp. After Legazpi, the foreign quintet consists of Eddy Merckx, Nikos Polychronopoulos, Roland Forthomme and Stefan Galla.
The scores are made up for players who played five matches or more. Therefore, Burak Hashas (1,652 out of 4), Eddy Leppens (1,616 out of 4), Martin Horn (1,580 out of 4), Berkay Karakurt (1,549 out of 4), Dion Nelin (1,500 out of 4), Birol Uymaz (1,489 out of 4) and Robinson Morals (1,546 out of 3) fall outside the top of the individual rankings. Turgay Orak, playing this weekend his second, is on 1,818 from only 1 performance.
Glenn Hofman has made a remarkable jump: from his starting average 1.732, the Cues&Darts player has scored much higher so far. In terms of averages, not only Legazpi and Hofman, but also Robinson Morales are among the best players in the premier league for Cues&Darts team.
Dick Jaspers with his starting average 1.979 has not played any match for SIS Schoonmaak and is unlikely to do that. The only lady in the standings, Therese Klompenhouwer, played 1.135 on average over nine matches, more than one point better than her starting average 1.027.
