ZUNDERT - Two quarter finals have been played, two more to go and the Belgians have already made a selection. Frédéric Caudron made an end to the illusions of Harrie van de Ven, Eddy Leppens defeated Barry van Beers at the other billiard.
The Belgians seem to distribute the medals again in the Christmas tournament. Only Jean Paul de Bruijn, who doesn't play already for a few years in Zundert, could break the hegemony in the past ten years, but all the other years Frédéric Caudron, Eddy Merckx and even one time Raymond Ceulemans grabbed the main prizes.
Eddy Leppens didn't have any problem with Barry van Beers in the quarterfinals he won 50-26 in 23 innings and left his opponent far behind (averages 2.173/1.130). ,,I wasn't that good in the preliminaries, indeed'', concluded the Belgian, who also came to the semi finals in the World Cup in Hurghada this month.
Frédéric Caudron had to be careful at the end of his match against Harry van de Ven. De home player crept close to his opponent, but couldn't threat the defending champion in the last phase 50-44 in 33 (1.515/1.333).
