UDEN - The new start for all Dutch billiard players offers in a few weeks the chance to participate in a tournament cycle in the SIS Billiards Center in Uden. Carl Verhoeven, the owner and team boss, has started a new cooperation with the KNBB section three-cushion billiards, which should lead to open tournaments according to the 3CC Survival format with four players in one match. The registration for all level players will be announced very soon.
The tournament cycle will consist of an A- and a B-group at a time yet to be determined, ending with a final round for the best 32 players from both preliminaries. That means a total participation of 64. The first plans have been made, the details will follow later, probably in the next few days. Then, the registration will also be opened.
Because of the cooperation with the KNBB section three-cushion, the three events get an official touch and probably ranking points will be awarded. For the A-tournament, for players from 0,700 average and the B-tournament for players of all levels, the same prize schedules apply. The winners receive 2500 euro, the prize schedule goes from the number 1 to the number 8 in the final ranking. The winner of the final will receive 10,000 euros.
The organisation expects a promising participation. Carl Verhoeven: ,,All billiard players yearn to play billiards again. Therefore we expect an overwhelming entry for the two tournaments in the preliminary stage.'' In case that the number of participants exceeds the expectations, it is likely that the pre rounds will also be played in other venues than the SIS billiards centre.
The intention is that every participant plays at least two matches. The A- and B-tournament start on the same days, possibly, depending on the relaxations that will be announced on 8 June, already on 11 June.
Dick Jaspers and Therese Klompenhouwer, the world's number 1 in men and women billiard, will stay in Korea for two UMB events during the preliminary stage. They will receive a wildcard for the final tournament.
